Candidate Membership is the first step toward earning the Accredited Municipal Assessor of Alberta (AMAA) designation—the gold standard in Alberta’s property assessment profession. This membership category is designed for individuals actively pursuing the education and experience required for accreditation.

As a Candidate Member, you will work under the guidance of an Accredited Member sponsor, gain practical experience in assessment, and begin building your professional network within Alberta’s assessment community. Candidate Membership demonstrates your commitment to professional development, ethical standards, and a future in property assessment.

Who Should Apply?

This membership category is open to:

  • Are beginning or actively working toward a career in property assessment in Alberta

  • Are enrolled in or planning to enroll in an approved post-secondary program in assessment or valuation

  • Are working under the supervision of an AAA Accredited Member

  • Meet the eligibility criteria outlined in the Municipal Assessor Regulation (MAR)

Fees and Processing

  • Application Fee: $200 + Annual Membership Dues $440 = $640 total

  • Annual Membership Dues: $440 as outlined in the AAA Fee Schedule

  • Reinstatement Fees: $250

  • Processing Time: Approximately 2–4 weeks from the date all documentation is received
